Infectious Disease
SRI is a leader in performing antimicrobial assays with novel agents. These agents are tested against clinically important microorganisms exhibiting either a single- or multiple- antibiotic resistance pattern. We also offer discovery services in lead compound discovery and optimization, in vitro and in vivo model development, mechanisms of action elucidation, and cost-effective synthesis development.
SRI is the world's leading provider of preclinical development services for anti-infective therapeutics and vaccines. We currently hold the contracts with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for preclinical safety, pharmacokinetics and clinical manufacturing of anti-infectives, and safety, immunogenicity, and IND preparation for HIV vaccines, making SRI the largest government program for the development of anti-infectives. We are also working with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and numerous private biotechnology companies on the development of vaccines and anti-infective therapeutics.
We can meet all of your preclinical needs from lead identification to Phase I clinical trials in time-frames that are well below industry-averages.
Examples of some of our recent anti-infective therapeutic and vaccine development programs:
- Toxicity and pharmacokinetics of Apollon APL400-01 HIV vaccine
- Preclinical testing of the anti-malarial AQ-13
- Chronic toxicity testing of rVB-7 vaccine
- Testing of vaginal microbicides for vaginal irritation and uptake
- Preclinical safety, immunogenicity and IND preparation of HIV vaccines
