Ceramic Synthesis and Processing

SRI's research is identifying and developing innovative ceramic processing approaches, including powder synthesis by freeze-drying, in-situ powder formation, and sintering of silicon nitride. We also access the technical and business aspects of powders, materials and technology, metal-ceramic composites, low cost ceramic matrix composites, joining of ceramics, preparation of ceramic beads, and general processing of ceramics. Target applications are both structural and functional. SRI team members have published many papers on ceramics research and have collaborated widely in the ceramics area.
